How Watchdog organizes reported information

A structured way to monitor the financial condition behind your dividends.

Our engine reviews comparable company filings for changes in earnings, business performance, liquidity and cash position. It looks for meaningful deterioration across multiple indicators, confirms changes over time and handles missing information explicitly.

For supported companies, that evidence supports an understandable Watchdog Financial Health state: Stable, Watch, Concern or Warning. Historical observations do not predict future dividend or investment outcomes.

Dividend Watchdog provides informational monitoring and analysis, not personalized investment advice or trading recommendations.

Built to Follow Change, Not a Single Snapshot.

Reviews Reported Evidence

The Watchdog engine compares current results with comparable prior periods.

Looks for Corroboration

More serious states generally require meaningful deterioration across independent indicators.

Handles Time and Missing Data

Confirmation, persistence, recovery and explicit data-quality rules affect the displayed state.

WATCHDOG DOES THE MONITORING FOR YOU

Stay Focused on What Changed.

Once a company is on your watchlist, Watchdog organizes new reported developments so you can review meaningful financial and dividend changes without repeatedly searching company filings yourself.

HISTORICAL ILLUSTRATION

Historical Example: National Oilwell Varco (NOV) Dividend Cut

We applied Watchdog's methodology to company filings that were publicly available before the dividend reduction. This is a historical illustration, not a live alert from 2015.

  1. Financial Conditions Deteriorated

National Oilwell Varco's Q2 filing showed diluted earnings per share declining from $1.44 to $0.74 and revenue falling approximately 25.6%. Its cash position also softened.

  2. The Watchdog Engine Identifies Concern

The deterioration in earnings and business performance supported a displayed Concern state. Concern remained displayed at the next eligible quarterly assessment.

  3. The Company Reduced Its Regular Dividend

National Oilwell Varco later reduced its regular quarterly dividend from $0.46 to $0.05 per common share, an 89.1% reduction.

What This Historical Illustration Shows

In this historical case, reported deterioration appeared before the later dividend reduction, and retrospective application of the methodology produced a Concern state 265 days earlier. This single illustration is not a prediction, guarantee, or claim that Watchdog will detect every future change.

Watchdog helps customers organize and monitor reported financial and dividend information; customers independently evaluate investment decisions.
